Figure Drawings

Hoping to do lunchtime gesture drawing more often now. Shaking off the rust for the most part this time:



Taking a cue from the artist next to me, I tried filling in just the high-contrast areas (challenging for the more complex poses):


And then moving on to slightly longer poses, although I'm useless with more than about 5-minutes a pose. I tend to do a quick gesture to nail down the pose, and kind of aimlessly fill in extraneous details with the leftover minutes.



I was initially pretty proud of this next one, then realized her right shoulder blade should really be angled to match her raised arm. (I'd looked at some anatomy breakdowns of back anatomy earlier this week, including suggestions to outline/fill out the triangular form of the scapula as a visual guide. Here the right scapula probably shouldn't be this vertical/neutral.)
