Figure Drawings
Hoping to do lunchtime gesture drawing more often now. Shaking off the rust for the most part this time:
Taking a cue from the artist next to me, I tried filling in just the high-contrast areas (challenging for the more complex poses):

And then moving on to slightly longer poses, although I'm useless with more than about 5-minutes a pose. I tend to do a quick gesture to nail down the pose, and kind of aimlessly fill in extraneous details with the leftover minutes.
I was initially pretty proud of this next one, then realized her right shoulder blade should really be angled to match her raised arm. (I'd looked at some anatomy breakdowns of back anatomy earlier this week, including suggestions to outline/fill out the triangular form of the scapula as a visual guide. Here the right scapula probably shouldn't be this vertical/neutral.)

Lunch Scribbles
Some sketches over lunch this week, 5-10min gestures...check out this excellent sketch tool with timed slide shows of animals and the human figure! Trying to graaaadually stray from just reproducing what I see and inject a little more personality. Not exactly caricatured yet, but trying to get a little more life and character into my drawings.
